Making New Solutions since 2015
A Christian-based counseling practice that provides a safe and positive environment for our clients to learn and grow.
Who we are
My Next Step, PLLC — "MNS", for Making New Solutions — is a small outpatient addiction counseling practice in Amarillo, Texas. We opened in 2015 and have served the Panhandle's recovery community ever since.
Today we are a team of three licensed counselors, supported by a nurse and a consulting psychiatrist, meeting clients several evenings a week in office space made available to us by Southwest Church of Christ on Cornell Street. We are an independent practice; the church is our generous host.
Many of us are in recovery ourselves. We know the first step is the hardest one, and we know what the road looks like after it. That is the heart of how we work: honest, faith-centered, and free of judgment.
What we focus on
Our program addresses the whole person — mind, body, spirit, and the family system around them.
Family Dynamics
Addiction reaches beyond the client. We work with the family patterns that hold recovery back, and the ones that hold it together.
Spiritual Growth
Faith-centered counseling that integrates Christian principles with proven clinical care.
12-Step Modality
The steps, the fellowship, and the accountability that have carried millions of people into long-term sobriety.
Identity Development
Discovering who you are without substances — and building a life you don't need to escape from.
Recovery Protection
Relapse prevention, coping strategies, and a plan for the hard days after the program ends.
Psychoeducation
Understanding addiction, the brain, trauma, and mental health so you can make informed choices.
Who we help
We work with adults struggling with substance use and alcohol use, including those with co-occurring depression, anxiety, or trauma. We also help with the things that so often travel alongside addiction: marital and relationship problems, grief, and major life changes.
Because the effects of substance abuse reach beyond the client, we strongly encourage participation from the client's family and other people supportive of their recovery. Family members are welcome to call us directly.
