Dr Veeramachaneni completed his Psychiatric Residency at University of Missouri-Kansas City. He completed his Fellowship in Child and Adolescent psychiatry through University of Missouri-Columbia.

He has been in practice in Amarillo since 1998. He is in Private Practice and also admits patients to Northwest Texas Hospital. He also works with Texas Panhandle Center and several agencies in the area.

He is Board Certified in Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Scott Walker / Partner/ Adult Clinical Director

Scott is a licensed marriage family therapist (LMFT) and a licensed chemical dependency counselor (LCDC). He has a Bachelor's degree in Community, Family and Addictive Services, a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, and has completed course work and qualifications as a PhD candidate in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Texas Tech University. Scott is EMDR trauma trained and a certified Equine Assisted Psychotherapist. He has been an active member at the Texas Tech Center for the Study of Addiction and Recovery since beginning his educational journey in 2007. Scott's focus of study is on addiction and the family, counseling the chemically dependent individual, and trauma. His research interests include; long term recovery, and integration of clinical treatment modalities with the principles of the 12-Step program. He enjoys spending time with his family, his co-workers, and the great outdoors. One day at a time Scott has 24 years of continuous sobriety.

Kayla Stephens / Client Liaison

As a dedicated graduate student pursuing a degree in counseling, Kayla is passionate about helping others navigate their personal challenges and achieve their goals. Her studies focus on developing the skills necessary to provide support and guidance to individuals in need, equipping them with the tools to foster positive change in the lives of those they work with.

In addition to her academic pursuits, she is employed at My Next Step, where she serves at the front desk. This role allows her to interact with a diverse range of individuals seeking guidance on their paths, reinforcing her commitment to community support and professional development.

Mistala Hammer

LVN, Sr. Client Liaison

Mistala received her LVN license from Clarendon College and was previously employed at Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic for 12 years. Simultaneously, she owned and operated "Maid to Organize," an organizational business specializing in individual lifestyle consultations.  

 She is currently employed at My Next Step in the capacity of Peer Recovery Specialist and a LVN addressing necessary individual and personal needs of recovering clients. 

 Mistala is married with two sons.

Maisey / Therapy Dog

Maisey is the therapy dog at My Next Step. With her gentle demeanor and comforting presence, she plays an essential role in the well-being of our clients. Maisey provides companionship and emotional support, helping to create a calming environment that fosters healing and growth. Her interactions with individuals are an integral part of the therapeutic process, as she instinctively knows how to bring joy and solace to those in need.
